Case Study: Min. Space – Max. Efficiency
The Challenge
New customers – and innovative solutions – sometimes come from the most unexpected situations. Such was the case in 2016 when Duke introduced its latest production center at a national trade show. An attendee visiting Duke’s booth needed to find a better way to control operational flow behind the counter while maintaining a minimal footprint. Duke was challenged to help him find a way to accomplish this for his institution.
The Solution
Duke’s solution was the Modular Production Center. Though originally designed with quick serve restaurant chains in mind, it didn’t take long for the attendee to recognize that what works in a tight, fast-food restaurant space would be ideal in a school or hospital, as well. The new Duke Modular Production Center installed for this customer focuses on total functionality, including cold and hot holding, shelf configuration, storage space and makeup area in a single compact footprint, while eliminating back and forth traffic flow. Within months, the production center was installed in four additional locations, including two healthcare facilities and two universities for the client.
